Please tell us a little bit about your business
I’m a natural light photographer that has a passion almost obsession with sun-flare and playing with light. I love finding the true emotion and character in my subject – what is unique and special about them and allowing it to shine though.
Where you nervous/reluctant to start?
Yes I think as an artist it was difficult for me to put my work out there to be judged. I still sometimes fight the nerves. However the joy and passion I feel for photography drives me to keep going.
What gave you the confidence to do it?
I think at first it was the support from my husband and friends. Then the joy and happiness it both myself and my clients.
If you work from home, how do you make it work? i.e. roster? work at night when kids are asleep?
I try to work when the kids are at school, like it’s a prat time job 3 days a week. Sometimes it flows over into the nights and early mornings. For me it’s a bit of an eb and flow. School holidays are the toughest time for me to manage things.
Have you found a great website that you use for reference/guidance/help with your business?
I do drop into a lots of blogs and forums. I have been lucky to find a mentor that I look up to but it’s not easy. You have to keep focused and work hard.

If you could give someone who is about to start their own business any advice what would it be?
Don’t be afraid to follow your passion. Be brave, be unique, work hard but most of all be true to your self.
